Best Home Gym Equipment Under $300 in Australia
At $300 a home gym stops being accessories and starts being equipment, but not both. Six picks and four worked ways to actually spend the budget.
Three hundred dollars is the bracket where a home gym stops being accessories and starts being equipment. It is enough for one real machine, or for a kit that covers most of what a beginner needs. It is not enough for both.
This page is about how we would spend it, and it deliberately ranks differently from our under $100 guide because the decision changes when a single item can eat the whole budget.

- Best for progression: FEIERDUN 5-in-1 Adjustable Dumbbells, $189.99 — the item most people should buy first.

How we would actually spend $300
If you have nothing: adjustable dumbbells ($189.99) plus parallettes ($59.99). That is $249.98 and it covers presses, rows, squats, lunges, push variations and core. It is the highest-value pair on this page and it is not close.
If you already have dumbbells: the weighted vest ($99.99) and the massage gun ($115.99). The vest extends everything bodyweight; the massage gun is the only item here that gets used on days you do not train.
If you want to lift a barbell: the squat stand ($129.99) consumes the budget once you add a bar and plates, which are not included and are not cheap. Be realistic about that before committing.
If your constraint is noise or a shared floor: the walking pad ($199.99) and parallettes ($59.99). No impact, both store flat.
What $300 does not buy
A rack and a barbell set together. A rowing machine worth owning. A treadmill. Any machine with a meaningful warranty. If one of those is the goal, this budget is a staging post rather than a destination — and buying a cheap version of a big machine is the most common way to end up with an expensive clothes horse.
Notes on each pick
PROIRON Adjustable Weighted Vest. Twenty removable packs, so you progress in small steps rather than jumping. Lowest average of the vests we compared and the recurring note is pack rattle while running — fine for strength work.
BangTong&Li Squat Stand. The largest review sample of the racks we cover, and the cheapest route to squatting at home. Users consistently want a wider base as the load climbs. See power racks for small garages.
FEIERDUN 5-in-1 Adjustable Dumbbells. Fast load changes, which matters more than it sounds when you are doing circuits. Its lightest setting is heavier than a true beginner wants.
Everfit 2-in-1 Walking Pad. Stores under a bed, which is the entire argument. The review sample is small at 110 ratings, so we would call its 4.2 provisional rather than proven.
Teclor Steel Parallettes. At 9.5 inches it is the height that works for both deeper push-ups and tucked skill work. Steel is cold in a winter garage.
RENPHO Active Deep Tissue Massage Gun. 35,570 ratings makes this the best-evidenced product on the page. See massage guns for beginners.
FAQ
One thing only — what? Adjustable dumbbells. Nothing else covers as much.
Is a cheap walking pad worth it? For steps while working, yes. For running, no — these are not treadmills.
What about a bench? A bench plus dumbbells exceeds $300 together. The bench is the next purchase, not this one.
